Note to self... never buy a rental car!

Day one:  Cover the jeep rental with mud [and keep it covered in mud the whole week]...

So we 4-wheeled some tretcherouse pot-holes to access this amazing beach in Kauai.
Ace thought it would be a great idea to do this with the top off too, as gunned it through the mud.  The result was mud rushing into the rental, and covering us and the upholstery all up in mud.  Me and Helga got some points for being rad, and thus the point system of the trip was born.
And then after cruising along the beach, the engine light decided
to make it's first appearance of the vacation, and the jeep over-heated.
ALWAYS an adventure with this crew!!!
This is my favorite group shot of the trip.  Such a fun time indeed.
Dan decided to muddy his jeep up too, and in doing so
he popped the tire...
So they tried to change it on government property, until we got warned that we couldn't change it there, but luckily these boys are fast, and got it done.
These jeeps definitely made everyone happy throughout the week.  Locals were giving us shaka's and head nods, and respect from fellow tourists.

The last day, we took the jeep through the car wash no less than 4 or 5 times, and had to scrub down the upholstery.  Somehow, and I'm really not sure how, we were able to avoid the $250 cleaning fee when we turned it in.

Note to self... NEVER buy a car rental car!!!

More Kauai adventures to come - stay tuned.

  1. I am always amazed that rental cars are ok with the way that we bring them back. Especially in Hawaii. Full of sand...mud...trashed!! Your vacation looks like a dream! What a fun crew.

  2. ps I guess the 'rental car' probably doesn't care what is going on. It's probably the 'rental car company' that hates it! ha
